Ameena graduated from ODU in 2002 with a B.S. in Accounting. Ameena started in tax preparation and bookkeeping in 1993 working for her dad's firm for eight years. She then worked as an Accountant for a local CPA firm for 2 years before going out on maternity leave to have her son, Conner in 2004. The intention was for her to go back to her career but she found that her priorities had shifted and that going back to work was no longer the plan, at least not right away. She then had twin girls in 2005 and with both of the girls having medical issues, the idea of working outside the home seemed almost impossible. It was then that Ameena realized that since she already had 10 years of experience with accounting and taxes, she should go into business for herself. What started as a small business in her home has grown into a successful business with six employees and many individual and corporate tax clients. Ameena is a member of the National Association of Tax Professionals and is on the board of Cerebral Palsy of Virginia. When not working, Ameena enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and watching movies.

Michelle joined the Lewis Accounting & Tax Service team in 2013 after a lengthy and successful career in retail management.  Michelle’s duties at the firm include bookkeeping, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, and tax return preparation. Michelle has successfully completed numerous accounting courses; she routinely attends professional conferences with NATP to remain current on tax policies and is focused on providing outstanding service to our clients.

Casey is a dedicated tax preparer with extensive experience in payroll and bookkeeping services. Known for accuracy, reliability, and a client-focused approach, Casey helps individuals and small businesses stay compliant, organized, and financially confident. With a strong attention to detail and a passion for supporting clients year-round, Casey delivers practical solutions tailored to each client’s needs. Outside of work, Casey is happily married to her husband, Dorian, and is a proud mom of two, a nana to one granddaughter, and a dog mom to two pups. Her family-oriented values and commitment to trust and integrity carry through in both her personal life and professional relationships.

Christie joined the Lewis Accounting team in November 2024 as a bookkeeper and payroll specialist. She is a native of Chesapeake and has lived in Virginia her entire life. She graduated from CNU with a B.S. in Accounting and brings over 8 years of experience in bookkeeping. When she is not at work, Christie enjoys spending time outside with her husband and children. Some of their favorite activities involve spending time at the beach and camping with friends & family.

James (Jay) Lewis has been mostly behind the scenes since the beginning of Lewis Accounting, although some of you may have seen him helping out at the reception desk on Saturdays during tax season.  Jay does all of the IT work for Lewis Accounting and does a great job making sure all the computer, printers and any other equipment stays up and running.  He also does all of this while still working a full-time job supporting Search & Rescue Operations for the US Coast Guard.   Jay worked at the Norfolk Ford Assembly Plant for 12 years before it closed in 2007.  He then went to ECPI and obtained a degree in Computer Science and currently works for SydanTech, Inc. as a Systems Administrator. We are so grateful to have him here supporting us.

Bernice joined our team in December 2016. She has 13+ years of banking experience as well as 4 years of experience assisting clients with real estate legal needs. She has embraced the customer service environment of our company and looks forward to building individual relationships with our clients.

Bernice will be assisting our payroll and bookkeeping clients and will soon expand her knowledge into individual tax preparation.

She is the loving mother to 2 girls who live in Pensacola, FL, and 2 stepdaughters from Virginia. She and her husband enjoy wine tasting and taking advantage of the many art venues in our area. She has found great pleasure in nurturing and spoiling her two fur-babies Marcos and Isabela.

Wendy has been with Lewis Accounting since November 2022.  She has worked both as a bookkeeper and as a tax preparer. Based in Chesapeake, Virginia, Wendy is a detail-oriented, service‑minded professional with a background as a North Carolina Certified Paralegal and as a Customer Service Manager for a local law firm. That blend of legal training and frontline client support has given her a calm, organized approach to solving problems and communicating clearly in stressful situations. Outside of work, Wendy loves spending time with her family and their two Great Danes. She also enjoys exploring local food, music, and simple everyday moments that keep life grounded and meaningful.

Amanda joined the Lewis Accounting Team in November 2024.  She came to us with 6 years of tax preparation experience.  Amanda is very detail oriented with a particular interest in rental property tax returns.  Amanda earned her BS degree in Accounting and Financial Management from Clemson University – go Tigers! 

Amanda and her family have called Great Bridge home for 12 years.  Her 2 boys keep her busy with football, golf and wrestling.  While not cheering from the sideline, Amanda loves to travel, garden + do home improvement projects.
